Bills rookie Sammy Watkins leaves with rib injury

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins left Saturday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first quarter due to a rib injury.

Watkins, the fourth overall pick in the draft, walked off the field clutching his side during Buffalo’s initial drive of the game after Pittsburgh linebacker Ryan Shazier went over his back during a pass play. Watkins spent a few minutes on the sideline before being taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

Watkins sparkled in Buffalo’s joint workouts with the Steelers during the week, routinely getting the better of whomever Pittsburgh lined up to cover him during drills.
