FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Some prayers are being lifted amid the outrage in Ferguson, Missouri, over the fatal shooting of an unarmed black youth by police.

The State Highway Patrol has taken over Ferguson’s security supervision, with Capt. Ron Johnson — a black Ferguson native — in charge. To prepare for his new role, Johnson said, “Before I got into bed, like I do each and every night, I prayed.” After meeting reporters, he went out on the street to talk with protesters.

But a local minister, the Rev. Tracy Blackmon, told angry marchers, “We are praying with our feet, and we will not go away.”

She said that when there’s injustice, “Our God is a warrior.”
