Smithsonian Natural History Museum closes briefly

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum closed Thursday morning for emergency technology repairs.

The museum said in its Twitter feed that a malfunction of its information-technology network necessitated the repairs.

The museum says that none of its collections have been damaged.

A spokesperson says the museum hopes to reopen by noon.

Smithsonian museums are typically open every day of the year except for Christmas.
