Turkey evacuates 18 more wounded Palestinians

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — A Turkish plane has evacuated 18 more wounded Palestinians to Turkey, raising the number of Gazans being treated in Turkish hospitals to 22.

Turkey began transporting wounded Palestinians to Turkey on Sunday by airlifting four people out of Gaza.

On Wednesday a Turkish military plane landed at Ankara airport with 18 wounded Palestinians and their companions. It took off from Israel’s Ben Gurion airport earlier in the day.

The wounded, including a pregnant woman and five children, were to be treated at a hospital in the capital.

Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay said Turkey was planning to airlift some 200 Palestinians wounded in the Gaza conflict.
