Bodies of 2 swimmers recovered from Deep Creek

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — Searchers have recovered the bodies of two Newport News men who disappeared while swimming in Deep Creek.

Newport News police spokesman Lou Thurston tells media outlets that the two 20-year-old men were fishing on Tuesday when they decided to go swimming.

Thurston says the current pulled the men under the water. Witnesses didn’t see them resurface.

One man’s body was recovered Wednesday. Searchers recovered the other man’s body Tuesday.

Neither man’s name has been released.
