Rays minor leaguer Joshua Sale suspended 50 games

NEW YORK (AP) — Tampa Bay Rays minor league outfielder Joshua Sale has been suspended 50 games without pay after a second failed test for a drug of abuse.

Major League Baseball made the announcement Tuesday. The suspension is effective immediately.

Sale was a first-round draft pick in 2010 and plays for the Class A Charlotte Stone Crabs of the Florida State League.

The 23-year-old was batting .238 with four homers and 46 RBIs in 90 games this season.
