CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds called up catcher Tucker Barnhart from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, giving them another option with Brayan Pena limited by a sore left hamstring.
Pena left a 2-1 loss to the Marlins on Friday night after getting a single and having the hamstring tighten.
Barnhart played in 12 games, including nine starts, during three stints with the Reds earlier this season. His last appearance for Cincinnati was on July 10 against the Cubs.
Lutz had two stints with the Red, starting five games at first base, two in left field and one as the designated hitter. Lutz batted .212 in 18 games overall.
