BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old Michigan woman who went missing after reporting she’d stopped to check on a person lying in a roadside ditch has been found alive in suburban Detroit.
Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone says the woman had been on the phone with a friend Thursday night when she stopped at an intersection in Bedford Township. She told her friend a man was following her with a gun, then their call was disconnected.
Her father later found her unoccupied vehicle idling, and a search was launched.
Police in Ecorse, about 45 miles north, say a woman dropped the 18-year-old off at a local police station Friday afternoon, but no other details were immediately released. Police say she’ll be taken to a hospital.
Malone says the woman is being questioned.
