NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are trading higher as investors weigh gains in productivity against worsening geopolitical concerns.

The higher prices in the U.S. are bucking a move down in European and Asian markets as U.S. fighter planes dropped bombs on Islamic State militants in northern Iraq.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 67 points, or 0.4 percent, to 16,435 in midday trading Friday.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose seven points, or 0.4 percent, to 1,917. The Nasdaq composite rose 11 points, or 0.3 percent, to 4,346.

Investors sought safety in U.S. Treasurys, driving the yield on the benchmark 10-year note to its lowest level since June 2013. The yield fell to 2.38 percent from 2.41 percent late Thursday.
