Wright-Phillips nets 18th, Red Bulls beat Revs 2-1

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Bradley Wright-Phillips scored his MLS-leading 18th goal of the season and the 10-man New York Red Bulls beat the New England Revolution 2-1 on Saturday night.

Wright-Phillips curled in a left-footed shot in the 63rd minute for his ninth goal in his last 10 games. He’s a goal away from tying the single-season club record set by Juan Pablo Angel in 2007.

Matt Miazga received a red card for New York (6-6-10) in the second minute of first-half stoppage time for a late challenge of Lee Nguyen.

New York’s Dax McCarty tied it at 1 in the second minute after halftime. He settled a ball outside the penalty area and chipped it over the reach of goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth.

Charlie Davies scored on a header in the 20th minute for New England (8-12-2). Teal Bunbury crossed the ball into the box that took a deflection to Davies at the back post.
