Woman fatally struck by bus in Md. identified

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — The husband of a Maryland woman who was killed when she was hit by a bus in Upper Marlboro says he forgives the bus’s driver.

Mack Burton, the husband of Patsy Stokes Burton, says he will pray for the driver, who has not been identified.

Burton was a mother of four who worked several jobs and lived in La Plata. Police say the 69-year-old was in a crosswalk when she was struck Thursday by a Prince George’s County bus that was attempting to make a left turn from Water Street to Main Street.

Police say a preliminary investigation determined Burton had been correctly following streetlights.

The accident is under investigation.
