NEW YORK (AP) — Two minor league pitchers in the Atlanta Braves’ organization have each been suspended for 72 games after positive drug tests.

The commissioner’s office announced the penalties Wednesday against the pitchers in the Dominican Summer League.

Right-hander Victor Joaquin tested positive for a metabolite of Nandrolone. Right-handed pitcher Alvaro Silvestre tested positive for a metabolite of Boldenone.

The new rules of the minor league drug program for short-season leagues say the penalty for a first violation is either 80 games or the total number of regular-season games, whichever is shorter. The Dominican Summer League plays a 72-game schedule.
