Gael Monfils withdraws from Citi Open tournament

WASHINGTON — Gael Monfils, the 23rd ranked tennis player on the ATP World Tour, has withdrawn from the upcoming Citi Open Tournament in D.C. because of a knee injury.

That same injury caused Monfils to withdraw from the recent Atlanta tournament.

The tournament men’s field still has eight of the top 25 players in the ATP World Tour.

Main draw plays begins July 28 at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park.
