Augusta James wins Canadian Women’s Amateur

WOODSTOCK, Ontario (AP) — North Carolina State senior Augusta James won the Canadian Women’s Amateur on Friday, shooting a 2-under 69 for a six-stroke victory.

James, from Bath, Ontario, had a 14-under 270 total at Craigowan Golf and Country Club. She broke the tournament and course records Thursday with a 63.

“It’s such an honor to be part of a strong tradition,” James said. “So many fantastic women before me have won this tournament, so I’m proud to have my name up with them.”

James received spots in the Canadian Women’s Open and U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Australia’s Su-Hyun Oh was second after a 69.

Canada’s Brooke Henderson, the 2013 winner, was another stroke back after a 70.
