Marathon survivor announces birth of baby girl

BOSTON (AP) — A man who lost both legs in the Boston Marathon bombing is now the father of a baby girl.

Jeff Bauman and his fiancee, Erin Hurley, announced the birth of Nora Gail Bauman on the “Jeff Bauman — Boston Strong, True Patriot and Hero” Facebook page Monday.

“Everyone is happy and healthy!” the message says. Nora was born Sunday.

A photo shows the couple, with Bauman holding the baby.

An Associated Press photo captured an ashen and bloodied Bauman being taken away from the bombing scene in a wheelchair by rescuers. Bauman later described to police one of the two brothers accused of planting two pressure-cooker bombs near the marathon finish line.

The 2013 attack killed three people and injured more than 260 others.
