NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Violence in two counties on the Kenyan coast has killed 18 people.
Officials say the overnight attacks by gunmen is in the same area where al-Qaida-linked militants claimed responsibility for killing 65 people last month.
The Kenya Red Cross says Al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab militants from Somalia claimed responsibility for today’s attacks.
An officer says the gunmen car-jacked a truck to reach one police station. The truck’s three occupants were killed.
Kenya has suffered a spate of gun and explosive attacks since deploying its troops in 2011 to fight al-Shabab militants.
