Asian stocks rise on strong US jobs report

TOKYO (AP) — U.S. stock markets are closed for the holiday but international exchanges were trading.

Asian stock markets were mostly higher after the U.S. reported strong hiring for June. European markets faded in early trading after being boosted by the jobs data the day before. Trading was muted due to the U.S. holiday.

Benchmark U.S. crude oil ticked up to remain just above $104 a barrel.

The dollar gained against the euro and fell against the yen.
