Woman gets weekends in jail in arson spree

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — The last defendant in an arson spree in western Maryland has been sentenced to 14 days in jail.

Twenty-one-year-old Sarah Couch of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to conspiracy and malicious destruction of property. Washington County Circuit Judge Dana Moylan Wright ordered her to serve the sentence on weekends.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports (http://bit.ly/1oaupWD ) that Wright noted in court that Couch had not been accused of setting fires.

Couch is the eighth person to be sentenced in the dozens of fires set late March to early April in 2013.
