CULPEPER, Va. (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a man whose capital murder conviction in Culpeper County was overturned.

Michael Wayne Hash says in a statement to media outlets that he’s happy his case is resolved. One of Hash’s lawyers, Matthew Bosher says the terms of the case’s resolution are confidential.

Hash was 15 when 74-year-old Thelma D. Scroggins was killed in 1996. He was convicted in 2001.

He filed the lawsuit after U.S. District Judge James Turk overturned his conviction in 2012, citing police and prosecutorial misconduct. U.S. District Judge Glen E. Conrad dismissed the lawsuit on Tuesday.

The defendants included a former prosecutor and the Culpeper County sheriff, who investigated the case as a deputy, along with several others.
