American Revolution Museum in Va acquires printing

YORKTOWN, Va. (AP) — The new American Revolution Museum at Yorktown has acquired a newspaper printing of the Virginia Declaration of Rights for exhibition when it opens in late 2016.

The precursor to the Declaration of Independence was printed in the June 12, 1776, issue of The Pennsylvania Gazette. The Virginia declaration was published as Thomas Jefferson and other delegates began the task of drafting the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia.

The Virginia Declaration of Rights was passed by a Virginia convention on May 15, 1776.

The American Revolution Museum is replacing the Yorktown Victory Center.
