Wednesday’s qualifying permutations at World Cup

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Six teams are chasing three places in the knockout stage of the World Cup on Wednesday. Here are the basic permutations:

GROUP F

Nigeria vs Argentina: Argentina has already qualified, while Nigeria only needs a draw to go through as group runner-up. Nigeria would finish top with a win.

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs. Iran: Iran has to win, and hope that Nigeria loses, to stand a chance of advancing — which would be on goal difference. Bosnia cannot advance.

GROUP E

Honduras vs. Switzerland: Honduras needs to win, and hope that Ecuador loses to France, to stand a chance of advancing — which would be on goal difference. For Switzerland to qualify, it needs to do better than Ecuador manages in its match against the French. Switzerland currently trails Ecuador on goal difference.

Ecuador vs. France: France leads second-place Ecuador by three points. A draw will send both sides through.
