Man found dead at Arlington was retired colonel

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Officials say a man who apparently committed suicide at Arlington National Cemetery last week was a 92-year-old retired Air Force colonel.

Cemetery spokeswoman Melissa Bohan (BOH’-an) on Tuesday identified the man as Robert Terrill of Falls Church, Va.

Terrill’s body was found Friday in the section that contains a memorial to and remains of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon.

The Army has said the man was found with a single gunshot wound and that they did not suspect foul play.

The area of the cemetery overlooks the Pentagon’s west side, where hijackers crashed a commercial airliner into the U.S. Department of Defense headquarters.
