Teen struck crossing East-West Highway

WASHINGTON — A 14-year-old boy is in Children’s Hospital after he was struck by a van while crossing East-West Highway in Silver Spring, Maryland Thursday morning.

Police are investigating the 10:30 a.m. accident at East-West Highway and 16th Street.

The boy’s injuries are described as serious. Initially, the injuries were described as life-threatening, but police say they are not life-threatening.

East West Highway was shut down in both directions at Rosemary Hills Drive during the investigation. It has reopened.
