RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The U.S. Marshals Service says the person of interest in the April slayings of four members of a Petersburg family was caught on surveillance cameras in North Carolina less than 24 hours after the crime.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/1mln9Vy) that the images show 47-year-old Alexander R. Hill Jr. at an Amtrak station in Rocky Mount and two restaurants in the Roanoke Rapids area.

Kevin Connelly of the marshals Service in Richmond says the images suggest Hill is still alive. Hill had hinted in a text message to a friend the day of the killings that he planned to commit suicide.

Authorities responding to a house fire found the four victims on April 19. Officials say two died of sharp force injuries, the other two of burns and smoke inhalation.
