BALTIMORE (AP) — A Baltimore man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for his role in a shoplifting scam in which stolen goods were returned to stores for gift cards.

Forty-seven-year-old Mark Brunelle was also ordered to pay more than $210,000 in restitution at sentencing Wednesday in federal court in Baltimore.

According to his plea agreement, Brunelle and others stole merchandise from large retail stores in central Maryland, then returned the stolen items for store gift cards.
