49ers sign fourth-round pick WR Ellington

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have signed fourth-round draft pick Bruce Ellington to a four-year deal.

The team announced the contract for the wide receiver on Tuesday. San Francisco selected the South Carolina product with the 106th overall pick in this month’s draft, adding a dynamic prospect who could challenge for a regular role in the team’s passing game behind starters Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree.

Also a three-year starter at point guard for the basketball team, he led South Carolina last season in receptions (49), yards receiving (775) and touchdown receptions (eight) while averaging 15.8 yards per catch.
