Horse dies in hit-and-run near Thurmont, Md.

THURMONT, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police are reporting a horse killed by a hit-and-run driver near the Frederick County town of Thurmont.

Cpl. James Egros told The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/1nsCw5d ) that the animal was hit at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of U.S. 15 and Catoctin Hollow Road.

Egros says the driver didn’t stay at the crash site.

He says troopers are trying to find the horse’s owner.
