Croatia’s Kranjcar to miss World Cup

LONDON (AP) — Croatia midfielder Niko Kranjcar will miss the World Cup in Brazil with a hamstring injury that will keep him out for up to six weeks.

The playmaker ruptured a muscle in his hamstring during Queens Park Rangers’ 1-0 win over Derby in the second-tier League Championship playoff match at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Kranjcar is on loan at QPR from Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev.

QPR said in a statement on Monday that the 29-year-old will be sidelined for four to six weeks.

Croatia is in Group A of the World Cup, with Brazil, Mexico and Cameroon.
