RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Colonial Williamsburg is putting Carter’s Grove back on the market.

The foundation that runs the heritage attraction made the lone bid Wednesday on the historic plantation. The bid was $7.4 million.

A bankruptcy judge in Norfolk approved the sale to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, then hours later the foundation announced plans to sell the 400-acre property along the James River in James City County.

The house had been owned by a wealthy Virginia businessman who fell on hard times.
