Angels activate Freese from DL, option Jimenez

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels have reinstated third baseman David Freese from the 15-day disabled list and optioned rookie infielder Luis Jimenez to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The moves were announced before Tuesday night’s game against Houston. Freese missed 16 games because of a non-displaced fracture in the middle finger of his right hand, an injury that occurred when he was hit by a pitch from Texas’ Colby Lewis on May 2 at Angel Stadium. In three rehab games with Salt Lake, the 2011 World Series MVP was 2-for-10 with two home runs, four RBI and four walks.

Jimenez was 4 for 25 with two RBIs and 10 strikeouts in nine games with the Angels.
