Raiders sign former Notre Dame RB Atkinson

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have signed former Notre Dame running back George Atkinson III and 10 other undrafted free agents.

The team announced the signings on Friday before the start of a three-day rookie minicamp.

Atkinson’s father, George, was a safety for the Raiders for 10 seasons. The younger Atkinson rushed for 943 yards and 10 touchdowns in his career at Notre Dame. He also returned two kicks for scores.

The other players signed were Virginia Tech receiver D.J. Coles, Texas receiver Mike Davis, San Jose State receiver Noel Grigsby, West Alabama receiver Seth Roberts, Utah tight end Jake Murphy, Assumption tight end Scott Simonson, Winston-Salem State linebacker Carlos Fields, Utah fullback Karl Williams, Montana tackle Dan Kistler and Delaware tackle Earl Ladson.
