6-year-old girl pulled from Anacostia River

WASHINGTON – A 6-year-old girl was pulled from the Anacostia River Friday afternoon.

The girl reportedly was playing with friends along the river in the 5000 block of Riverdale Road in Hyattsville when she slipped and fell into the water, according to NBC Washington.

A woman who saw her fall screamed for help, and a man on his bike stopped and tried to get her. When he couldn’t, a man driving by stopped to help them when he heard screaming. That man was able to pull the girl to safety and she was taken to a local hospital for observation, according to news reports.
