BOSTON (AP) — An associate of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to lying during a gun trafficking investigation related to the murder case against Hernandez.

Twenty-three-year-old Oscar Hernandez Jr., of Orlando, Florida — no relation to Aaron Hernandez — pleaded not guilty Tuesday to obstruction of justice, witness tampering and lying under oath. He remains detained.

Aaron Hernandez and two other men are charged in the 2013 shooting of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player found dead in an industrial park near the former NFL player’s North Attleborough home.

The indictment against Oscar Hernandez says a grand jury began investigating the transporting of guns from Florida to Massachusetts after authorities traced three guns recovered during the investigation of Lloyd’s killing. None was the one allegedly used to kill Lloyd. That weapon hasn’t been found.
