Monday morning was the end for the stone bank building that used to take up a prominent corner in downtown Bethesda.

In its place, at Commerce Lane and Old Georgetown Road, will go a 15-story, 120-unit apartment building called Element 28.

Plans from developer Kettler call for a number of outdoor amenities, including this glowing green leaf sculpture that should catch the eye of people leaving the Bethesda Metro station.
