Chevy Chase House Fire Leaves Firefighter Injured

Brooklawn Terrace home fireA house fire in Chevy Chase on Sunday night left one firefighter injured and the house with $400,000 in damages, according to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer said firefighters were called to the fire, in the 3300 block of Brooklawn Terrace, just before 11 p.m. on Sunday.

The residents weren’t home and Piringer said the fire appears to have been sparked by an electrical system malfunction.

The fire started in the basement and moved to the first floor and Piringer reported the fire was quickly under control.

A number of windows in the two-story home have been smashed out and debris from the fire remain on the home’s front lawn.
