Authorities identify woman killed in plane crash

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a Maryland woman killed in a small plane crash in southern New Jersey.

But National Transportation Safety Board investigators are still trying to determine what caused Friday night’s crash in Hamilton Township.

Morgan Smith, a 28-year-old Lexington Park resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other Maryland residents on board the Navion-G single-engine aircraft were injured.

Authorities say the pilot, 45-year-old Peter Kosogorin of Tall Timbers, and another passenger, 23-year-old Cheyne Austin of Lexington Park, remained hospitalized Monday. But 23-year-old Alec Lewis of California was treated for undisclosed injuries and was released.

The plane was approaching Atlantic City International Airport when the pilot reported engine problems. The plane crashed a short time later in a wooded lot in Hamilton.
