FBI, SWAT practice for emergencies in Alexandria (Photos)

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Don’t worry, it’s just a drill. The FBI’s Washington Field Office conducted an active shooter simulation at the Landmark Mall in Alexandria Friday morning.

The simulation started before the mall opened to the public. A SWAT team wearing tactical gear and carrying rifles entered the building around 7:30 a.m.

A command center was staged outside the Sears in the west parking lot. New information was introduced to the scenario and the teams were required to act quickly based on the changing circumstances, according to spokeswoman Lindsay Godwin.

The City of Alexandria Police and Fire Departments assisted the FBI in the training exercise.
