Gas leak reported in Bethesda

BETHESDA, Md. — A gas leak briefly closed Wisconsin Avenue in the heart of downtown Bethesda, Md. Tuesday just before lunchtime.

Wisconsin Avenue had been closed at Woodmont Avenue. It has reopened.

The gas line affected is a 1 1/4-inch line, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

The fire department says there are no active readings of gas inside the nearby buildings and no one is in danger.

Hazardous materials teams responded as a precaution, as well as police.
