Telegraph Road Bridge to reopen

WASHINGTON — The detour ends and a short cut returns for some drivers in Virginia.

The new Telegraph Road Bridge — near the Marine Corps Base Quantico — is set to open Saturday.

The original bridge was demolished in April 2013.

“We had to build a taller bridge that would span the entire width of I-95, including the new Express Lanes that are under construction,” says Michelle Holland, spokeswoman for Virginia Mega Projects.

It is the first bridge to be finished on the 95 Express Lanes Project.

The contractor is has arranged message boards to alert drivers of the new bridge’s opening.

“It’s a local bridge, but it should ease the drive for people who do take it and rely on it,” she says.
