1 killed in Silver Spring crash

WASHINGTON – A Wheaton man was killed in a head-on collision in Silver Spring early this morning.

Montgomery County police say that two vehicles collided on Old Columbia Pike around 2:30 a.m. They say that an Infiniti in the northbound lanes crossed the center line and crashed into a Chevrolet Tahoe in the southbound lanes.

Oscar Arellana, 18, of Wheaton, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the front-seat passenger in the Infiniti. The driver and a rear-seat passenger were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, as was the driver of the Chevrolet.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
