Man robbed after using Facebook to sell sneakers

WASHINGTON — A Maryland man was attacked and robbed after using social media to sell a pair of sneakers.

Police say the victim posted a listing on Facebook to sell a pair of tennis shoes. Once the sale price was settled, the buyer asked the seller to meet him on Nursery Road in Anne Arundel, Md., officials say.

When the victim arrived, he was approached by two males. One punched him in the face and the other snagged the sneakers.

The suspects, identified as 18-year-old Zachary Nicholas Lynch, from Glen Burnie, Md., and Nicholas Keith Davis, a minor from Linthicum, Md., fled on foot. One of them pointed a gun at the victim as he chased the suspects.

Police used Facebook to track them down.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with armed robbery and related offenses. Davis was charged as an adult.
