WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals have pitched the idea of a retactable roof over Nationals Stadium and they’re asking the D.C. government to foot the $300 million bill, reports reports NBC Washington.

in District tax dollars. But the proposal to the DC government is a strike out.

District taxpayers contributed almost $700 million to build the ballpark in 2006. The request comes as the mayor has proposed spending hundreds of millions of dollars to build a soccer stadium for D.C. United.

NBC 4 first reported the roof plan and that Mayor Gray said no to Nats owner Ted Lerner’s vision.
