D.C. police officer shot, killed man Monday

WASHINGTON – A D.C. police officer shot and killed a man during a homicide investigation Monday afternoon.

Police say 26-year-old Robert Brown of Southeast D.C. died at a local hospital after he was shot multiple times. Police have not released the involved officer’s name.

According to D.C. police, the officer went to an apartment building in the 4900 block of G Street SE, the site of a recent homicide, to follow up on that investigation. The officer tried to stop and speak with Brown, who led the officer outside the building, where the two tussled.

Brown pulled out a handgun and refused to drop it. The officer fired his duty weapon, hitting Brown multiple times, according to police.

Internal Affairs officers and Sixth District detectives are investigating the fatal shooting.
