Police arrest D.C. man in fatal shooting of Howard University student

WASHINGTON – Police have made an arrest in the July 4 fatal shooting of Howard University student Omar Sykes.

Police arrested Rasdavid Lagarde, 26, of Washington, D.C. and have charged him with first degree felony murder while armed.

Sykes, 22, was found shot multiple times in the 700 block of Fairmont Street in Northwest around 11:29 p.m.

Sykes died at the hospital from his gunshot wounds.
