OAKLAND (AP) – The fifth and final game of the American League Divisional playoff between the Tigers and Athletics is being played Thursday night in Oakland. The Tigers tied things up with an 8-6 win two nights ago in Detroit.

The pitching matchup this evening has Justin Verlander going for the Tigers against Sonny Gray. Verlander is getting the start because the scheduled starter, Max Scherzer, was used in relief during the fourth game of the series. Gray is getting the call over Bartolo Colon.

These are the same pitchers that squared off in Oakland’s 1-0 win in the second game of the series.

The winner of tonight’s game will face the Red Sox in the opening game of the American League Championship Series in Boston Saturday.
