UPDATED: MCFRS Responds To Bethesda House Fire

UPDATED 2:45 p.m. One firefighter sustained minor injuries during a fire on Thursday afternoon that spread to the attic and through the roof of a house on Kingswood Road.

MCFRS spokesperson Beth Anne Nesselt said the firefighter is being transported to a local hospital. Crews were called at about 1:40 p.m. for the report of smoke in a house in the 5800 block of Kingswood Rd.

Nesselt said all occupants of the house had evacuated by the time firefighters arrived. The fire started on the second floor of the home before hitting the attic and damaging part of the roof. Nesselt said it took firefighters about 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

Fire investigators are on the scene to determine the origin and cause.
