An apartment fire at the intersection of Montgomery Avenue and East-West Highway has all lanes closed in the area this afternoon.

MCFRS officials are trying to open at least one lane on the east and west routes in and out of downtown Bethesda.

According to scanner traffic, there was an electrical fire in an eighth floor apartment at 4300 Montgomery Avenue, right where the two roads become East-West Highway.

Firefighters are working with building maintenance personnel to resolve the issue.
