Police need public’s help finding Va. suspect

WASHINGTON — Police have released a composite sketch of a man they say knocked on a Virginia woman’s door in an attempt to gain entry.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, a 37-year-old woman answered a knock at her door on the 10200 block of Scarborough Commons Court in Fairfax County, say Fairfax County police.

The man at the door spoke briefly with the woman before striking her in the upper body and trying to push his way into her home, police say.

The woman managed to slam her door shut and the suspect fled on foot. The victim had minor injuries that did not require professional medical attention.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in is 20s with brown hair. He was about 5-foot-9 and weighed about 180 pounds, police say. He was wearing a black T shirt and jeans.
