Rescue Squad Asks Town Of Chevy Chase To Pay For 2 Ambulances, Town of Chevy Chase Unsure — The president of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad, who lives in the Town of Chevy Chase, asked the Town for $500,000 to fund two new ambulances. The Town, which is served by the Rescue Squad, has a surplus of about $9 million. But some on the Town Council and some residents think half a million dollars is too much. Analysts Say Unemployment Numbers Could Signal Turning Point For Region’s Economy — Maryland lost 9,200 jobs according to July unemployment numbers with 4,300 positions lost in government and 3,200 jobs shed in the professional services industry. Most states in the U.S. lost jobs in the July numbers. But analysts say the news could mean the federal sequester has started to take a toll on the D.C. region, which was one of the few areas to add jobs during the recession. [Washington Post]
