Bicyclist shot while riding in Fairfax County

WASHINGTON – A man was shot while riding his bike by another man who was loading a gun.

Police say Albers, 49, was loading the gun inside his house on Summerfield Drive in Herndon when it went off. The cyclist was passing by outside.

Albers has been charged with discharging a gun in a public place and causing injury. He has been locked up in the Fairfax County jail.

The condition of the bicyclist, who was taken to the hospital, is currently unknown. Police have not released his name.
